Hubert Bittman
Hubert Bittman is a music composer and producer. In the mid-80’s he co-founded the Experimental Studio of the Czech Radio. In 1989 he immigrated to Germany, where he first worked as a tonmeister, and later as a music director, studio musician and producer.
He writes music in a wide range of genres, from film soundracks to musicals, audiobooks and television or radio commercials. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including a Grammy Award. As a composer and producer, he mainly works for Spiegel TV, National Geographic Channel, BBC History, ARTE, Phoenix, ZDF, NDR, MDR, American Experience – WGBH Boston, Czech Television and others.
In the field of jazz and rock music, he is the co-producer of the soundtrack recording to Rising Above the Blues – The Story of Jimmy Scott (2009 – 2017) as well as the recordings of Alan Broadbent from 2016 – 2017: 4 Jazz Ballads for Piano Trio and Orchestra, Milestones – The Children of Lima, Concerto for Jazz Trio and Orchestra.
He cooperated on the recordings of Janet Jackson, guitarist Pat Metheny, Tommy Emmanuel, saxophone player Bob Mintzer and groups such as Ramstein, the Scorpions and many others. In the Czech Republic, he was the producer of the project Radim Hladík, Blue Efect and the Radio Big Band of Gustav Brom – 2014 New Synthesis (as played at the Rock for People festival in 2014).
He has also produced several musicals, such as the world premiere of Eric Woolfson’s Edgar Alan Poe (2010) or Albert Guinovart’s Mar I Cel (2009).
As for classical music, he produced the recordings of George Friedrich Händel‘s famous operas (Ariodante, Admeto, Imeneo and others) and Richard Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen WWV 86 (2005 – 2010).
He composed music for numerous films, the most famous being The Goebels Experiment (2005), The Nuremberg Trials (2007) or Dear Uncle Hitler (2010). His music is also featured in documentary series of the Czech Television: Heydrich – The Final Solution (44 episodes, 2011), Our Great War (13 episodes, 2014), Spring 1945 (20 episodes, 2015), Our Charles IV (10 episdoes, 2016), Third Republic (10 episodes, 2017), Beneš 1918 1938 1948 (10 episodes, 2018).
He is the author of the music in Biblical Poetry audiobooks: Song of Songs, Job, Ecclesiastes, Psalms and Proverbs (published by energeia o.p.s.) and audiobooks to Windmills and Song (published by Porta Libri).
